Sylvester Jones

History

Sylvester Jones (1952 - 1997) was an example of artful and courageous leadership. As an undergraduate at The University of Alabama, he was the first African American to serve as Vice President of the Student Government Association and also became a student representative to the UA Board of Trustees in 1975. Sylvester Jones was a leader who created new trails for others to walk with him.

The Sylvester Jones Leadership and Career Resource Center seeks to partner with students and alumni in reaching their personal and professional goals. The Sylvester Jones Center is a dynamic, interactive and diverse setting for students, organizations, and groups to develop personal plans of action.

Available to prospective and current students, as well as alumni, these computers contain software to research careers and companies, write resumes, provide leadership development, and other career-related activities.

Companies who have visited will frequently leave information for anyone interested. We also provide research materials and access to websites such as Hoover's, Vault, InfoUSA, and others.
